With our 16 varieties, Martin’s Family Fruit Farm has the perfect apple for all of your baking, cooking, and snacking needs – whether your looking for a tart and crisp Granny Smith, a sweet and flavorful Fuji, or the aromatic experience of our lush, exotic Ambrosia. Any way you pick them, they’re simply delicious.

For handy reference, we’ve listed all of our apples alphabetically, by seasonal availability and by the different quality grades for each variety. You’ll also find helpful information including unique flavours, and textures. And we’ve included recommendations for the best uses for each apple.

Ambrosia
This is a new variety. The fruit is sweet, juicy, and aromatic with a pleasing flavour. Only available for a short time.

Cortland
A cross between a Ben Dvis and a McIntosh apple. Large globular shape with red-orange stripes. Excellent for salads and fruit plates. Resists browning. Good for pies and sauce.

Crispin/Mutsu
Cross between the Golden Delicious and the Japanese Indo. This apple is also known as a MUTSU. Larger than average, tart to sweet taste and firm texture. Excellent fresh eating and great in pies and sauces.

Empire
Cross between the McIntosh and Red Delicious. Slightly tart, juicy, firm, and crisp. Ideal for snacks and makes great apple sauce.

Fuji
Medium to large apple. Firm and greenish pink with white flesh. Juicy. One of the sweetest apples. Excellent for eating. Very good for salads, pies, sauces, baking and freezing. One of the best keeping varieties.

Gala
Cross between a Kidd's Orange and Golden Delicious. Rich full flavour yellow to red colour. Ideal for fresh eating and salads.

Golden Delicious
This apple is truly an all purpose apple. The flesh stays white longer than other varieties. An excellent apple for eating and ideal for baking and salads.

Honeycrisp
Large size fruit with distinctive, crisp texture. Sweet taste. Flesh is cream coloured. Excellent eating apple. Because availability is limited, get them early.

Idared
Cross between a Jonathan and Wagener. Medium to large apple. Great for eating and excellent for baking.

Jonagold
Cross between a Golden Delicious and Jonathan. Large rough apple. Medium orange to red with faint striping. Great for eating fresh and cooking.

McIntosh
A true Ontario apple. It originated in 1800 as a chance seedling by John McIntosh of Dundela, Ontario. A medium-size, irregular-round apple with red splash. Juicy, white flesh. Mildly tart but sweetens as it ripens. Excellent for eating fresh, baking pies, and sauces.

Red Delicious
Apple is medium to large size, firm, sweet, and juicy. Dark red or striped with long, tapered shape. Excellent in salads. Excellent eating apple, but not recommended for cooking.

Russet
A European favorite. One of the oldest Ontario varieties. Great for snacks, pie filling, and apple sauce.
